Descriptor of point estimates:
A point estimate represents the actual figure obtained through a probability sample survey. A repeat of the survey may result in a slightly different point estimate. 95% confidence intervals imply that if the survey were repeated 100 times, the point estimate would likely lie within the confidence intervals 95% of the time. For simplicity, we have used the term to apply to budget and expenditure estimates as well.
