Tracking the progress of loveLife and the status of the HIV epidemic

The loveLife initiative incorporates the lessons of more than 20 years of international HIV prevention, a dedicated process of consultation with key stakeholders, as well as extensive focus group research and in-depth interviews with young South Africans to remain on the cutting-edge of HIV prevention among youth.

It recognises that sexual behaviour needs to be viewed in its social, economic and cultural contexts. Formative research is therefore carried out in preparation of all loveLife’s programmes and campaigns, taking into account these contextual factors – as well as at a more general level for a better understanding of the HIV/Aids epidemic.

Each aspect of loveLife is then monitored to record the progress and implementation of programme components, quality of service and overall functioning. Our analysts produce quarterly reports for the organisation and funders based on feedback and data received from our sites, hubs, provincial and regional offices across the country.

loveLife’s publications and reports are produced and disseminated to partners, funders, other HIV-prevention bodies and are made available to the general public to keep them informed about the trends, facts and figures about the epidemic in South Africa, as well as new points of intervention to combat the spread of HIV among young people.
