| Youth Leadership Development
loveLife recognises that youth leadership is critical in reducing the tolerance of risk among young people. During their year with loveLife, groundBREAKERs are motivated and inspired to further their studies, secure employment and/or participate in social change work in their communities. Their perception of opportunity is broadened and, as a result, gB graduates:
- Are more likely to be employed than their age counterparts (60% vs 36% of same-age matriculants)
- Have much better prospects of accessing further educational opportunities – with nearly 50% of gB graduates now having some level of post-matriculation qualifation (vs 6% of same-age counterparts)
- Are overwhelmingly positive about the future

Our Connected! alumni programme works upon these gains by strengthening the network of groundBREAKERs; creating a sense of connectedness among them and setting them up for public innovation. Former groundBREAKERs volunteer their services by mentoring current implementers of the programme; representing the organisation at selected platforms; and linking young people to opportunities to help create footholds for them in society. |
